Lynn became interested in filmmaking as a young writer reviewing films for a daily newspaper, and it stuck, at least the journalism parts, the writing and the visual attraction to moving pictures. While living and working in Santa Barbara, she had the opportunity to judge films in the International Santa Barbara Film Festival. A decade later she began a few film festivals herself. While in residence as a curator of art at SBCAST in Santa Barbara, she had an idea to open a 3-Minute film Festival -- she had no training, learned it by doing, and with help from other residents at SBCAST -- the artists, scientists and techies. The 3 Minute Film Festival was born in 2015. With no idea how many folks would show up, we had a studio of only 50 chairs, which quickly were all taken. Those who couldn't fit in stood outside in the rain with umbrellas to watch through the windows. It was a success. Now in its 16th season, the beat still goes on rain or shine, but on-line. We hope one day to return it to a Brick & Mortar venue.

Our mission is to showcase the some of the best films from around the world for anyone to view them and celebrate diversity of creativity. Our audiences inspire us to offer new perspectives. This doggie-girl enjoyed the films...she sat quietly with her owner in the front row.

Founded in 2015, 3 Minute Film Festival Film Festival has grown to become one of the premier short- boutique film festivals in the country, attracting filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts from all over the world to view and to participate. Our judges are professionals from the industry and/or cinephiles.

Our festival once took place in some of the most iconic places in Santa Barbara, like SBCAST -- Santa Barbara Center for Arts, Science & Technology. We now hold our fashionable festival on-line where thousands of people are able to view the screening from far away.
